Mountain is
a place to relax and recharge your batteries but don’t forget that there you
can also find high quality education to prepare yourself to enter the job
market!
Several
mountain regions have already invested in offering a large variety of training
courses, aimed to high school students.
For example, the university annex of Saragossa in the province of Teruel (Spain) has developed classes in car maintenance, electricity, management and computing, attended by many young people and giving them the chance to work locally.

The province of Teruel offers university courses too,
such as the training class on palaeontology, aimed to young curators and
restorers under 25.

In the county of Hedmark as well, the municipalities of
Tynset, Røros and Trøndelag developed several higher education courses such
as engineering, tourism, law, finance and ICT.
On the
other hand, other regions focused on distance learning not only for county
residents but also for young people living outside the area. For example, Dalarna University offers distance learning for
students living in the county or coming from more than 60 countries, giving
them the chance to learn without leaving their social environment.
The aim of distance
learning is, on one hand, to provide high quality education and, on the other
hand, to acquaint foreign students with regional history and culture.
This is the
approach adopted by the University of Highland and Islands (Scotland) as well. It offers an
high quality Master of Science in Sustainable Mountain Development, which
focuses on mountain issues and policies relating to cultural and environmental
development.
